Film: ‘Jawbreaker’ – “Okay? There’s nothing kinky about “okay”, now is there?”

I’ve been listening to Marilyn Manson for the past hour and I can safely say that this is the only thing I have taken away from watching ‘Jawbreaker’

The film is a cheap version of ‘Heathers’ with a 90s dress code, it relies on the same clique mindset (pronounced ‘klik’ for those who are blissfully unaware) and also starts with an accidental death. However it misses the part of ‘Heathers’ that made it work – namely Christian Slater.

(Marilyn Mason as the best thing in ‘Jawbreaker’)

None of the ladies in ‘Jawbreaker’ have anything going for them to make them a compelling lead or even supporting cast member – Rose McGowan, Rebecca Gayheart, Julie Benz, and Judy Greer aren’t exactly household names at the best of times and certainly not for their acting abilities.

Which means that the most memorable part of the film is Marilyn Manson’s brief cameo as the patsy having sex on a dead girl’s bed whilst her lifeless body has been stashed underneath is by her heartless ‘friend’.

The combination of Manson’s sleazy appearance soundtracked by Scorpions ‘Rock You Like a Hurricane’ works concerning well and is the only reason I would even slightly consider keeping this film, however that would be REALLY hard to explain to the spouse…
