I do try to snack healthily but it is tricky as a lot of the healthy stuff is either expensive or tastes too weird to eat. If you are really lucky you find a product that is both – like the Beond Organic acai berry bar.
It is organic, vegan, one of my five a day, raw, low GI, dairy free, soya free, Gluten free and contains Acai berries – which are heralded as a superfood with all sorts of magical powers. It contains 2% acai berries compared to large quantities of Dates, Cashews and Raspberries, but it does contain them…
Under the packing it is an average single serving size bar with a reddish-purple colouring and dense appearance. Biting into it the denseness is very apparent and it tastes weird – it is a strong taste that that is overly sweet and wasn’t great when combined with lumpy seeds.
The taste was so overpowering that I had flashbacks to eating something similar and decided that I didn’t want to do that again. So it went in the bin, I’d much rather have just eaten the berries in non-bar form!
