Film: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Tuesday are films and today a bit of a confession; I used to watch art house and subtitled films, I think that I used to like them however I really don’t seem to get on with them now

I watched all 120 minutes of ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ was bored and irritated that no one would kill Jen Yu despite it making perfect sense to do so at the earliest opportunity.  The only thing that kept me watching was the memory of a really cool fight scene, a fight scene that turned out to be in a totally different film entirely.

(Still from ‘The House of Flying Daggers’)

Although it must be said that ‘The House of Flying Daggers’ also sucks apart from that one scene.

My younger self would be horrified that the other day I did enjoy watching ‘Bad Boys 2’ because it was so bad that it was funny, overlong but funny.

Book: Orlando A Sanchez’ Tombyards & Butterflies

In the old world Monday was a book post, that works for me in the new world

I’m battling with the multitude of things available on Kindle Unlimited – I’m a month through a 2 month free trial and there have been a lot of bad to flat out terrible books and a couple of good books

Notable in the good books are the Montague & Strong Detective series by Orlando A Sanchez, I read the three full length stories and the two short stories in a weekend

The stories are contemporary set urban fantasy and feature a very fun hellhound, I think I’d probably have even spent real money on them – at the very least I signed up to the mailing list to hear about when the next one comes out

Food: Over priced chocolate ice cream

As it as on offer I bought some Waitrose 1 Santo Domingo chocolate ice cream, which is apparently made with “Indulgent and rich with West Country cream and dark, bittersweet Santo Domingo chocolate”

I spent the whole tub wishing I’d paid more for the Green and Blacks version as that is so much nicer

Nails: Skulls

I’m trying to recall how this posting lark went and apparently Wednesdays were trying to inspire me to actually grow my nails and do pretty things with them

Well this is Thursday so I’m late, however the thought is totally there.

Skulls seem appropriate so close to Halloween and to the Day Of The Dead, and who doesn’t like a pile of the skulls of their enemies?

Unexpected giant toad

I was clearing the leaves out of the wood grate cover at the front of the house and one of the leaves moved!

Turned out to be a toad as big as the palm of my hand

It was probably feasting on the many worms that like hiding there

The giant toad was most put out to be moved into the back garden, however there was no way to get the wood back in place without risk of squishing – not entirely sure how I had moved the wood out without squish!

Better habits?

So positivity and being grateful are being touted as being super again, I’m game to give it a go

I’m grateful that no one I care about is stupid enough to climb in a croc trap

I am happy G’s eye seems to be getting better – it does indeed look to have been his brother thumping him

F now has a swollen eye too… I  guess G hit back… pretty sure that isn’t something to be grateful for!
And I got a cheap book that I wanted and £5 Amazon voucher for one survey, which are nice too
