Food: Candy Kitten Eton Mess Swets

Candy Kitten are a gourmet sweets brand, which essentially means at full price it is £2.49 for a mere 150gr of sweets

The flavour isn’t a very accurate description of the taste; Elton Mess is strawberries, meringue and cream mixed together, these sweets taste vaguely of strawberry-related flavours and that’s about it

They also contain beef gelatine. I’m not vegetarian anymore however using gelatine in sweets always feels like an attempt to sneakily increase profit margins

Talking of sneaky, the beef gelatine is marked as being halal, however as the sweets also contain cochineal they can’t be halal – which makes me wonder who these overpriced, very chewy and under-flavoured sweets are aimed at… and then my darling spouse says he quite likes them at the very reduced price that I paid for them!

Food: Delicato Chokladboll Chocolate Mocha Top – Say that fast twice

I have a weakness for buying random food if it sounds really weird and is on offer. I blame my parents – there are a lot of reasons for this but let’s use the example of them buying a random deli salad in a French supermarket without worrying about the contents only to find out that it contained squid but making us eat it anyway.

As such random Swedish candy didn’t sound that odd – well until you realised the top four ingredients are: sugar, rolled oats, vegetable fat and water.

Unsurprisingly the freaky balls of coconut tasted of sugar and erm… more sugar!

Food: Cadbury Marvellous Creations cola pretzel honeycomb – Weird

I REALLY liked the jelly popping candy version of Marvellous Creations and have bought it a couple of times now. However due to similar packaging I ended up buying the Cola Pretzel Honeycomb version.

This sounded rather scary so it sat in the cupboard for ages and ages. I finally got the courage to try it and it was… weird. I don’t know how to describe it articulately, it was sort of jelly cola, with semi-savoury pretzel and random sugar tastes that were probably the honeycomb.

It wasn’t as gross as I feared, but nor was it nice enough to buy deliberately.
