Hotel Chocolat teaolat drink

I am perhaps too open-minded, there is little other comprehendible reason why I’d try a drink made of cacao shells – which are usually discarded so people can get to the far more tasty cacao beans

Apparently you can brew them, mix them with ginger and chai, call it a health drink and charge £2.50 for 330ml. Unfortunately it will taste like bitter water so repeat purchasers will be unlikely…

Food: Halloween Yumpkin

Hotel Chocolat make a grinning Halloween pumpkin and it looks cheerfully ghoulish – however at £5.50 for 50 grams I’ve never been prepared to buy one

My darling spouse kindly ventured into town on the 1st November to buy me a reduced price one; which was a lovely gesture however I like the look of it too much to actually eat it just yet

I wonder if watching ‘Sleepy Hollow’ would make me more or less inclined to eat him

Hotel Chocolat End of Season sale Box – part 2

I am not going to claim that my chocolate rationing is going entirely to plan…

However I can confirm that ‘caramel & hazelnut – dark’ is pretty good, although taste slightly reminiscent of something you’d find in a box of Roses – just better quality!

There were some cone shaped peach and champagne flavoured things that were nice and vanished far too quickly.

There were some dark chocolate and strawberry hearts, which were probably the worst of the plot – although I have saved the pistachio for last as I still associate them with causing cancer based on a newspaper headline from circa 2002.

Easter Egg frenzy – So good that I didn’t wait for the sale

I prefer reduced price festive chocolate, I’m pretty sure that it tastes better… or I did… then I saw the Hotel Chocolat Extra Thick Easter egg filled with happy smiling chocolate. In a random burst of covetousness I wanted it… a lot.

Based on past experience Hotel Chocolat’s more funky pieces sell out long before the end-of-season sale, so despite the eye-watering price of the chocolate egg I paid full price. I felt masses of guilt about spending that much money on chocolate, until I bit the head off a smiling face.

The chocolate was divine and the smiling faces were wonderful for my cold-ridden and stressed out little brain.
